Retro Bowl on Retro Ball: the season, start to finish
Retro Ball exists for one game. Retro Bowl is New Star Games’ pixel-art take on American football, and it works because it never asks you to do the boring half: the defense is simulated from the players you signed, and you only ever touch the ball on offense. A drive is a handful of throws you aim by hand, a game is five minutes, and the front office between games is where seasons are really won or lost.
The copy on this page is the HTML5 build, served from retroball.org itself rather than an outside frame, so pressing Play loads the game and nothing else. Your career — team, roster, record, the owner’s mood — is saved in this browser on this device. There is no account and nothing to install.
Controls & Mechanics
| Action | Control | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Pass | Click, drag back, release | The arrow points where the ball goes; a longer drag throws harder and higher |
| Run | Click the ball carrier, steer with the mouse | Flick sideways to sidestep a defender |
| Punt / field goal | Drag up on the ball | Length of the drag is power, angle is direction |
How to win more than you lose
- Fix the quarterback before anything else: Every receiver plays up to the passer’s accuracy. A great QB on a poor roster beats a poor QB on a good one.
- Throw to the sideline late in a half: A catch that goes out of bounds stops the clock. Two sideline completions turn a dead drive into a field goal.
- Spend early coaching credits on training: Training raises every player a little each week; the stadium only raises fan support, which winning does for free.
Key Features
- Management that matters: Draft picks, free agents, contracts, coordinators and facilities all change what happens on the field.
- You throw every pass: The ball goes where your drag sends it. Timing and lead are yours, not an animation’s.
- Served from this site: No third-party frame, no ad gate before kickoff. The game is on retroball.org.
